How do I get a library card?
Library cards are free and are available for all Waterbury residents, including newborns!
Adults must present photographic identification showing proof of Waterbury residency, such as a driver's license with current Waterbury address, or two other forms of ID with a Waterbury address such as a utility bill, rent receipt, voter registration card, or other official document.
A library card application form must be completed, either online or in person.
Waterbury residents under the age of 18 must have their parent or legal guardian present the above identification to be issued a card. Teenagers under the age of 18 who do not have a parent or legal guardian may present their own identification to be issued a card.

You can submit an online application through our consortium, Bibliomation. You will still need to bring a photo ID with current Waterbury address in person to the library in order to pick up your new card.

Get a Digital Card
Apply online for a digital card, which will give you access to our online services, including ebooks, audiobooks, and tutorials.
The digital card can't be used to borrow items from the library. If you have a digital card, you can upgrade it to a regular card for free by visiting the library and bringing the ID listed above.
