Hearing Loss

The following types of equipment and services are available for deaf or hearing-impaired library patrons:

• Text telephone reference service - call (203) 574-8226.
• E-mail reference service - sblmrr@bronsonlibrary.org
• Closed caption videos and DVDs - interfiled with other audiovisual material
• Loop system available for use in classroom or auditorium
• American sign language (ASL) interpreters - on request

Note:  The loop system is one of our newest assistive devices.  It is ideal for any kind of class or group presentation because, by wearing headphones or a neckloop,  the hearing-impaired patron can adjust the volume for himself without affecting the comfort of other people in the room.  It must be set up in advance.  Please contact us if you would like to try it out at a library class or program.
