Silas Bronson Library is a Depository Library
Government documents tend to be informational materials such as forms, pamphlets, laws, magazines and legislative information. As a depository library the Silas Bronson Library receives some of these publications from both the state and federal governments. In keeping with changes and advancements in technology many of these publications (documents) are now available online. To make these online documents even more accessible some of them are available as links from our library catalog.

If you need help finding government related information please ask for assistance from the staff at the information desk. The staff will help you locate government information whether or not that information is considered a government document.
Our print collection of federal government documents is located in several areas including the Main Reading Room. Most of the Connecticut state documents are stored in the basement. For more information ask a Librarian for assistance. If an item you’ve seen in the catalog has "website" in the collection field then click on the title of that item and you will be taken to a page where you can click on a link to access the website. Internet access in the library is free to all of our patrons but does require a login code. If you need assistance accessing online documents please see a librarian at the information desk.
Complete collections of the both federal and Connecticut government documents are available at the Connecticut State Library. Most of these items can be found by searching the Connecticut State Library catalog.
Magazines
The current editions of those federal document magazines that the Silas Bronson Library receives in print are located in the Main Reading Room and are shelved with the general magazine collection.
